Danny O'Brien has 11 of the 18 nominations for Saturday's Nissan Stakes at Moonee Valley but expects only two or three of them to actually start in the race including the promising Cabeza.

O'Brien said he would finalise which other one or two take their place in the Listed 1200m event for colts and geldings after six of them gallop at the Valley in the morning.

He said some of the squad, of which seven were unraced, would be entered for the Seymour meeting on Sunday.

"You need to kick them off somewhere," O'Brien said.

"Cabeza will run and one or two others.

"Unfortunately not having the (Geelong) ThoroughTrack this year has been a setback.

O'Brien also said that apart from Flemington and Caulfield, a lot of the other tracks were pretty much "bottomless" after heavy rain on Sunday.

The Cranbourne meeting on Sunday was abandoned after the first race while the 20 barrier trials set down for the track on Monday were called off.

Zabeel colt Cabeza made a winning debut over 1300m at Sandown on August 5 when apprentice Brent Evans guided him to a nose victory over Midnight Glory and then survived a protest from the runner-up.

O'Brien has already decided not to run last-start easy Sale three-year-old fillies maiden winner Nun Faster, his sole entry in Saturday's Arrow Training Services Plate (1200m).

"I don't want her to be chasing Black Caviar. I think Black Caviar is the best horse in Melbourne," he said.

The Peter Moody-trained Black Caviar has won at her two starts by an aggregate of 11 lengths and is headed towards a start in the Group One weight-for-age Manikato Stakes (1200m) at the Valley on September 25.

The Bel Esprit filly is resuming having last raced when she defeated Demerit by six lengths in the Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on May 2.

Moody also nominated Dequetteville Stakes (1100m) winner Speedy Natalie for the Arrow Training Services which attracted 17 nominations.

Among them were the Lee Freedman-trained fillies Maka Ena, who was placed third behind Reward For Effort in the Group One Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, and Essaouira, both Valley winners.

O'Brien said imported galloper Reputable would resume in the 0-89 Hcp (1200m).

The six-year-old hasn't raced since finishing fourth to Zavite in the Group Three Launceston Cup (2400m) in late February.
