Nash Rawiller remains the overwhelming Sydney jockeys' premiership favourite despite a weekend surge from nearest rival Corey Brown.

Rawiller had his lead halved when Brown rode four winners at Rosehill on Saturday and he now holds a less-than-convincing three-win advantage.

However, in a re-activated Sportingbet Australia market, Rawiller is the clear-cut favourite at $1.28 to clinch his first major premiership ahead of Brown at $3.50.

"We stopped betting when Nash was about six (wins) in front and looked an obvious winner but we've put another market up now," Sportingbet Australia spokesman Bill Richmond said.

"Now there is only three wins between them it is going to be interesting because both are obviously going to be in high demand."

Brown can help settle one Sydney premiership result this week while enhancing his own claims for a second jockeys' crown.

He will link with Peter Snowden for important rides at Randwick on Wednesday and Randwick again on Saturday as the Warwick Farm trainer chases a maiden premiership victory.

Snowden holds a 13-win lead over Chris Waller and multiple success this week will almost ensure he wraps up the Sydney trainers' title with eight meetings left in the 2009-2010 season.

Brown's booking for key Darley runners at both meetings comes after Rawiller rode for the global racing power at Rosehill on Saturday.

Rawiller won on the Snowden-trained Killian before Brown hit back with his four winners.

Brown has two rides for Snowden on Wednesday but it is Saturday's meeting which could be pivotal to the outcome to the jockeys' premiership.

Among Brown's four rides for Darley on Saturday will be the talented galloper Offhanded.

Offhanded will be stepping out for the first time since finishing second in the Canberra Guineas in early March.

The three-year-old has shown throughout his career he is better than a Sydney winter-class galloper with black-type placings in the Alister Clark Stakes and the Up And Coming Stakes.

"The reports about his barrier trial are strong so he looks a great ride," Brown's manager Brett Grant said.

Offhanded had almost a length to spare without being put under serious pressure in a 900-metre Gosford barrier trial win last week.

Brown, who has another full book on Saturday, will also ride Stifle, Tollemache and Buffalo for Snowden.

Rawiller has one Darley mount - Daytona Beach - while his early book of six rides also includes Queensland-trained two-year-old Demanding Miss.

Brown held out Darren Beadman to win the 2001-02 premiership while Rawiller is chasing his first title after he was runner-up in 2007-08.
