Mother-to-be Beyonce's Star may have ended her racetrack career on a high following a narrow victory in the Listed Just Now Handicap at Eagle Farm.

The Bryan Guy-trained mare, who is in foal to Show A Heart, powered home to down Irish Dream in Saturday's 1300-metre feature.

The six-year-old mare was bought for $40,000 by Raheen Stud principal Basil Nolan at the Magic Millions Broodmare sale at the Gold Coast in June.

Nolan had her covered by multiple Group One winning sire Show A Heart soon after the sale but decided against retiring her immediately.

"She's been very consistent and earned black-type when she was placed in the (Listed) Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich," Guy said.

"Now she's a Stakes winner and that's going to greatly boost her value again at stud."

Guy is undecided whether Beyonce's Star will be retired immediately or have one more start in a class six at the Gold Coast on January 1.

"She's been so honest and has run heaps of placings," Guy said.

"Finally she's won a big race and she deserved it."

The win continued the great run enjoyed by jockey Chris Munce.

"She had a lovely run and I just followed Shane Scriven (Rare Diamond) and everything went to plan," he said

Beyonce's Star's win was the second leg of a double for Guy who scored earlier with Jazz Heart in the Hotel Urban St Leonards Handicap (1600m).

Jazz Heart, ridden by Jim Byrne, fought out a titanic struggle with Secrets Untold before getting the bob in on the line by a half neck.

"I thought he was gone but he rally toughed it out," Guy said.

"Doomben is his favourite track not Eagle Farm but we're hoping to turn the Gold Coast into his best course.

"Jim rode him perfectly and never left the fence. It shows barriers are also a big advantage."

Guy has suddenly found the key with Jazz Heart, who was one of the state's top three-year-olds two seasons ago before losing form.

The son of Show A Heart broke a string of outs when he returned to his best winning at Caloundra at his previous start on November 28.

Guy said he hoped the win would lift the spirits of owner Stan Leszczewicz who has been in ill health.
