Mike Moroney is looking to Skiddaw Peak to give the stable back-to-back wins in the Group One Stradbroke Handicap following the success of Mr Baritone last year.

Moroney said the five-year-old would have his next start in the Listed Prime Minister's Cup (1300m) at the Gold Coast on May 2.

Skiddaw Peak was a second-up winner of the Listed Anniversary Vase (1400m) beating Sound Journey, Pinnacles and Falaise at Caulfield on March 28.

Moroney scratched Skiddaw Peak from the Group Three Victoria Hcp (1400m) at Caulfield on Easter Saturday and did not accept with him in the Lord Mayor's Charitable Hcp (1400m) at Flemington a week later.

"He just wasn't quite right for the Victoria Handicap. He went well in a jump-out at Flemington on Friday and will run in the Prime Minster's Cup," he said.

"We'd like to have a shot at the Stradbroke with him."

The gelding has won eight of his 18 starts up to 1600 metres, but hasn't come up the past two springs which is why Moroney has targeted the Brisbane winter with him.

Around this time last year, Skiddaw Peak won a 1600m event at Moonee Valley, beating Fire In The Night and stablemate Sarrera, and the Listed Auckland Racing Club Hcp (1600m) at Flemington on Anzac Day beating Rubiscent and Gallopin.

Also on the Stradbroke path possibly through the Prime Minister's Cup is Masked Assassin, the last-start winner of the Group Three Victoria Hcp (1400m) at Caulfield on April 11.

Trainer Peter Moody has dismissed The Goodwood at Morphettville on May 2 for the Danzero four-year-old due to the unsuitable set-weights and penalties conditions.

"There are lead-up options in Queensland such as the Prime Minister's Cup, the BTC Sprint and the QTC Cup," Moody said.

"If his form warrants it he might get into the Stradbroke with an attractive weight."

Masked Assassin was on the sidelines for more than a year recovering from laminitis but Moody said he was over the ailment and he was trying to enhance his value as a stallion once he finishes racing.

"The horse is in good shape physically and mentally due to the fact that he's pain free," he said.

The Victoria Handicap victory over talented galloper Chasm was his first since successive victories as a two-year-old in the Gibson-Carmichael Stakes (1600m) at Sandown and Group Two QTC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm in May-June of 2007.

Masked Assassin was also Group One placed at two in the TJ Smith (1600m) at Eagle Farm while in his three-year-old season he finished fourth to Group One winners Weekend Hussler, Bel Mer and Scenic Blast in the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.

The Stradbroke (1400m) is run at Eagle Farm on June 6.
