Trainer Peter Moody is warming to his Golden Slipper chances with in-form two-year-olds Reward For Effort and Headway.

While Reward For Effort will be out to become only the fifth juvenile to complete the Blue Diamond Stakes-Golden Slipper double, Headway excites Moody as a genuine winning chance as well.

"Her work here at Caulfield the other day was super and they are both going into the race with great chances," Moody said.

"She's the most improved horse in my yard.

"She's a remarkable little horse. Her work on Tuesday morning was blistering.

"She was unbelievable working on the steeple grass the reverse way. It was the nicest piece of work you'd ever see."

After a discussion with Moody on Friday, Luke Nolen decided to stay with his Blue Diamond Stakes winning mount Reward For Effort in the Slipper.

Glen Boss has been confirmed as the rider of Headway and will be wearing the same colours he sported to win three Melbourne Cups on the back of Makybe Diva.

Reward For Effort won a Randwick barrier trial from the Steve Richards-trained Rostova who choked down when fifth in the Blue Diamond as favourite.

"He got a little bit lost on the turn," Moody said.

"He got on and off his wrong leg a couple of times but he had the hit out that he needed not having the run last Saturday week.

"He's now had the experience he needed the Sydney way and the good gallop that he needed."

Reward For Effort was scratched from the Todman Slipper Stakes on March 21 on the morning of the race.

Only John's Hope (1972), Manikato (1978), Bounding Away (1986) and Courtza (1989) have completed the Blue Diamond-Golden Slipper double.

Headway is raced by Tony Santic's Makybe Racing And Breeding Pty Ltd Syndicate, and goes to the Slipper as the winner of all three of her starts.

"She's a top four chance no doubt," Boss said of the daughter of Charge Forward who last start took out the Group Three Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 14.

Chris Munce rode Headway in the Sweet Embrace but will stick with his Black Opal winning mount Delago Bolt.
