Trainer Peter Moody says he will not be tempted to chase a Victoria Derby victory with Anacheeva who gave him his first win, and jockey Luke Nolen his second, in the $1 million Caulfield Guineas.

Moody said if the Anabaa colt raced again this spring it would be in the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Derby Day.

"Alternatively he'll be spelled for the Australian Guineas and Randwick Guineas in the autumn," Moody said.

A brother to 2006 AJC Australian Derby winner Headturner and a half-brother to sprinter Kroner, a Group Two Premiere Stakes winner, Anacheeva set up a stud career with victory in the Group One Guineas (1600m) which has proven to be a stallion-making race.

Past winners include Starspangledbanner (2009), Lonhro (2001), Show A Heart (2000) and Redoute's Choice (1999).

Moody deliberately kept the colt fresh for the Guineas, spacing his runs this spring, and he remains unbeaten this campaign.

The winner of four of his six starts, Anacheeva resumed with a win in the Mitchell McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on August 21.

Four weeks later he beat Group One Golden Rose winner Toorak Toff in the Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield, leaving a three-week break to the Guineas.

"He slips under the radar, you know he's stamped himself as the best three-year-old colt in the land today," Moody said.

Sent out at $6, Anacheeva was given a gun run behind race leader Run For Levi ($31) and went on to beat that tenacious colt by a long neck.

Victoria Derby-bound Masquerader ($10) was three-quarters of a length away third with Toorak Toff ($5 eq fav) finishing fourth after being trapped wide and making an early run.

The other equal favourite, Spring Stakes winner Ilovethiscity, tracked nicely into the race behind Toorak Toff but failed to finish off, weakening to finish 10th of the 16 runners.

Anacheeva is raced by the Rockmount Syndicate managed by Geoff Guest, Jill Kewish and Damian Murphy.

Moody said he and Rockmount's racing manager Murphy sourced the colt at the Sydney Easter Yearling Sale and paid the now bargain price of $100,000 for him.

"Geoff and Jill purchased Rockmount probably some four or five years ago and now it's a boutique pre-training and spelling facility up there (at Longwood in the Strathbogie Ranges northeast of Melbourne)," Moody said.

"Thankfully the vets (at the sales) gave him a terrible wrap. It was X-ray issues of various kinds, but I thought he was athletic enough to overcome them and Damian went to Geoff and Jill and they were happy to purchase him off us.

"You see him physically here beside these other horses today and although he's an extremely attractive colt he's got a lot of maturity ahead of him and that usually means a lot of improvement."

Nolen landed his career-first Group One race aboard the Bart Cummings-trained Wonderful World in the 2006 Caulfield Guineas.

The hard luck story of the race was Rekindled Interest whose rider Craig Williams said he was "poleaxed" at the start between Bullbars and Toorak Toff.

He went back to last and did a great job to finish fifth.

"Any plans we had were doomed because they went slow," Williams said.

"He was the only one that charged home from the back so he has a future."
