Equal Doomben Cup favourite Miss Darcey looks like scraping into the Group One feature on Saturday, much to the relief of trainer Anthony Cummings.

Miss Darcey, winner of the Group Three Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) at Randwick last month, has been a borderline contender to make the Doomben Cup field since Cummings decided to target the race.

Jockey Glen Boss has been granted a release from Sydney mare Pravana to ride Miss Darcey in the Doomben Cup.

The Group One Queensland Oaks was the original winter mission for the daughter of Hussonet who finished third at her past two starts in the Group One AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick and Group Three Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m).

However, Miss Darcey convinced Cummings he was on the right track to aim her for the Doomben Cup with her performance in the Gold Coast Bracelet when the filly was caught off the track.

Miss Darcy is the current $6.50 equal favourite with Kiwi stayer Izonit in fixed odds betting for the 2020m feature.

The filly was 20th in order when first acceptances for the Doomben Cup were taken last week and looked in a precarious position to make the final field of 16 runners plus five emergencies when five horses were paid up as late nominations.

However, at least five of the nominations are unlikely to be paid up when final acceptances for the Doomben Cup close on Wednesday.

Izonit, runner-up in the Group Two Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast at his Australian debut on May 2, is 25th in Doomben Cup entry order and in grave danger of missing a starting berth.

Trainer Peter Moody has decided to start West Australian Derby winner Markus Maximus in the Doomben Cup but will sleep on a decision on whether to accept with stablemate Riva San while Reggie is an unlikely acceptor.

Markus Maximus arrived in Brisbane last week with the Queensland Derby (2400m) his chief objective at Eagle Farm on June 6.

"I'll definitely accept with Markus Maximum and I still might accept with Riva San after I talk with her owners," Moody said.

"Reggie also is nominated but it's unlikely I'll accept with her."

Meanwhile, Michael Rodd has been booked for the Bart Cummings-trained High Cee while Michael Cahill has been engaged for stablemate Zazabeau who is likely to be among the Doomben Cup ballots.

High Cee, who was a well-beaten seventh at Caulfield last start, is 14th in order of entry and guaranteed a start while Zazabeau is 26th and in danger of being balloted out.
