Well-bred filly Messenger could book herself a tilt at stakes level this campaign if she can score a breakthrough victory at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Messenger is a Choisir half-sister to the Bart Cummings-trained 2005 Caulfield Guineas winner God's Own and will be having her third race start in the Heat Of The Moment Handicap (1400m).

Jockey Chris Munce is sticking with Messenger who comes into the race after charging home to finish a half-head second to Pure Drama over 1250 metres at Canterbury on February 12.

"Chris has ridden her in both of her race starts and has a big opinion of her too," trainer Anthony Cummings said.

"I've always thought she would be a stakes horse but as I've told the connections, we just need to get her maiden out of the way first and this race tomorrow looks a good one for her.

"She made plenty of mistakes the other day like getting on the wrong leg on the home turn but she'll learn a fair bit from that run and her work suggests that she'll do very well.

"There could be a stakes race for her this time in but we'll deal with tomorrow first."

The three-year-old drew a shocking barrier, 10, on debut and was forced to settle back in the field before making a late burst to run fourth to Logan's Choice at Canterbury on February 4 also over 1250 metres.

"She's drawn badly again (nine) but the extra distance should give her the chance to get motoring in the straight," Cummings said.

Messenger is out of the Sky Chase mare Angel In Disguise.

Sky Chase was trained by Bart Cummings and enjoyed plenty of success at the top level including a big year in 1988 when he won the Rosehill Guineas, Premiere Stakes, Chelmsford Stakes and the Caulfield Stakes.

In his two-year-old season Sky Chase won the Group One Champagne Stakes.
