The Thousand Guineas campaign of Furious Stakes winner Melito remains on track despite her unplaced run in the Group One Flight Stakes won by More Joyous.

Melito, who was first or second in the previous three legs of the four-race Princess series in Sydney, couldn't quicken on the slow Randwick track on Saturday finishing fourth to the Gai Waterhouse-trained winner.

The Flight Stakes was Melito's first test at 1600 metres, the same distance as the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 14.

Ryan admits the jury is still out on whether Melito can run a strong mile but remains hopeful the wet track and not the 1600 metres was to blame for her below par performance at Randwick.

"She just can't quicken on it (wet track) but I hope it is the wet and not that she can't get the journey," Ryan said.

"She has pulled up really well, she could go around again tomorrow."

Ryan said Melito would leave for Melbourne on Tuesday night with Corey Brown, who has ridden her at three of her four starts this campaign, to stick with the filly.

Stablemate Ready To Lift will also press on to Melbourne despite her disappointing run in the Group One Metropolitan Handicap (2400m) won by impressive import Speed Gifted.

The Randwick track had deteriorated to a heavy (nine) by the time that race was run and while Ready To Lift had previously handled wet ground she was never a factor from her wide draw in the Metropolitan, finishing 11th of the 16 runners.

Prior to that she was a solid winner of the Kingston Town Stakes and Ryan said he would stick to his guns and aim her at the major Cups in Melbourne.

"The mare has pulled up terrific," Ryan said.

"We will keep going with her and she will go to the Caulfield Cup if she can get a run.

"If not she will run in the Coongy and the Moonee Valley Cup and then go to the Melbourne Cup."

The news wasn't as good for stablemate Hus Der Lieften who has been sent for a spell after failing to figure in the Spring Champion Stakes.

Also flopping in that race was the Patinack Farm owned Onemorenomore and Victoria Derby plans for the colt are now up in the air.

"He had a black eye after the race, he probably didn't appreciate the kick back off the track," said Patinack Farm's racing manager Mark Webbey.

"He will head to the Norman Robinson and we'll make a decision on him after that."
