A few tricks Barry Baldwin discovered during a training stint in Macau helped pave the way for Rightson's all-the-way win in the Listed Brisbane Handicap at Eagle Farm.

The eight-year-old, who was lining up for his 17th start this campaign, strolled to an easy three-length win over Gold Coast mare Yamarjie in Saturday's 1600-metre feature.

"This horse has found a new lease of life," Baldwin said.

"His last two runs have been the best of his career and the staff that look after him have done an excellent job.

"He's been in work a long time and had 16 starts before this race."

Asked how he's managed to keep the gelding mentally fresh, Baldwin said it was something he picked up while training in Macau several years ago.

"They keep their horses in their boxes for 24 hours a day, 12 months of the year," Baldwin said.

"You soon learn how to keep them mentally fresh."

Baldwin is unsure of Rightson's immediate future but the Listed Recognition Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm in a fortnight looks his immediate goal.

"I don't like to stop a winning streak so he'll probably head for the Recognition," Baldwin said.

Earlier, classy mare Zero Rock showed she would be a major force again in the Group Three George Moore Stakes next month with an impressive comeback win in the Elder Consulting Handicap (1000m).

Zero Rock, who was having her first start since her second in the Magic Millions Cup in January, burst between horses in the straight to score a runaway 2-1/2 lengths win over Aspiran.

The daughter of Danzero took her record to eight wins from 16 starts in a career which almost never started.

"When she was a foal she was stood on by her mother and nearly died," trainer Kelso Wood said.

"She had to spend some time in hospital at Scone where she picked up a bad virus and almost died."

Zero Rock was being prepared for this year's Brisbane winter carnival following her Magic Millions defeat when she slipped and hurt herself, ending her campaign.

"I persevered and took her to the beach every day and she came good at one stage before she went wrong again so I had to turn her out for a long spell," Wood said.

"She's got a little lazy as she's got older but she'll run in the George Moore next start before the same Magic Millions race again."

Zero Rock was runner-up to Burdekin Blues in the George Moore Stakes (1200m) last year.
