Goldikova further cemented her place among the greats as she took her Group One tally to 10 in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville, her third consecutive win in the race.

Freddie Head's five-year-old wonder mare blitzed the opposition with another incredible performance.

Leading a furlong and a half (300m) out in the hands of Olivier Peslier, the 1-3 shot won in brilliant style from Music Show.

Goldikova's stablemate Only Green set the pace from Music Show, with the hot favourite tracking the leaders.

The race was settled as soon as Peslier asked Goldikova for her effort about two furlongs out, and hard as the Mick Channon-trained Music Show tried she could not get close enough to strike a serious blow.

The victory means Goldikova joins the Miesque as the only horse to have won 10 Group One races since the inception of the Pattern in 1970.

Like Miesque, she has claimed two Breeders' Cup Miles and Paddy Power left her unchanged at 6-4 to add an unprecedented third at Churchill Downs in November.

Pierre-Yves Bureau, racing manager to owners the Wertheimer Brothers, said Goldikova had come through the race well.

"Goldikova is a wonderful mare," Bureau said.

"She's incredible and today she did not have too hard a race.

"There is the Prix Jacques le Marois in two weeks' time and hopefully she will go for that.

"Music Show was the main contender and she finished a good second.

"Last year she had a disappointing comeback in the Prix d'Ispahan, probably because of the very heavy rain just before the race.

"This year we are very proud she won at Ascot (in the Queen Anne Stakes) and what is great is that everything is going to plan so far with what was scheduled for her during the winter.

"There is a lot of credit to give to Freddie for keeping this fantastic filly at this level for so long."
