Three Godolphin-owned horses are among the five international raiders remaining in the $2.5 million Caulfield Cup while two of the world-renowned stable's trio have also been paid up for the $3 million Cox Plate.

Second declarations closed on Tuesday and Crime Scene, Kirklees and Sugar Ray could try to make it back-to-back Caulfield Cup victories for Godolphin which landed the race last year with 40-1 shot All The Good, while the Luca Cumani stable still has Basaltico and Cima De Triomphe in contention.

Crime Scene and Kirklees are also in the Cox Plate as is Singapore star Jolie's Shinju who ran third to Whobegotyou at her Australian debut in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley last Saturday week and is nominated for Friday night's Listed JRA Cup (2040m) at the same track.

A total of 85 horses were paid up for the Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 17 while 58 horses were left in the Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 24.

Second declarations for the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate were both up by two on last year's numbers.

Guineas Prelude winner Demerit and Golden Rose winner Denman were both among the 30 second declarations for the $1 million Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 10 as was the Bart Cummings-trained So You Think and the John Thompson-trained pair Trusting and Onemorenomore.

Thousand Guineas Prelude winner Irish Lights heads the list of 53 fillies vying for a berth in the Thousand Guineas on October 14 with classy Sydneysiders Lovemelikearock, Melito and More Joyous among her rivals.

Nominations also closed on Tuesday for the spring carnival's coveted three-year-old staying features, the Victoria Derby and VRC Oaks, which will be run over 2500m at Flemington on October 31 and November 5 respectively.

A total of 79 horses have been entered for the Victoria Derby with Onemorenomore, Tribunal and Manhattan Rain among the higher-profile hopefuls while 75 fillies including Irish Lights, Lovemelikearock and Melito have been nominated for the Oaks.
