A jockey for Railway Stakes winner Gathering's bid for a Perth Group One double won't be finalised until later this week.

Gathering has firmed to second favourite for the Kingston Town Classic after Craig Williams helped the Patinack Farm galloper to a Group One breakthrough in the Railway Stakes.

Williams, who was allowed to make his own tempo in the Railway, will miss the Kingston Town Classic meeting on Saturday week because he is committed to riding in Japan.

"Basically we've decided who we want to ride the horse but now it's a matter of availability," Patinack Farm racing manager Robyn Hartney said.

"There's a few jockeys in the running."

Hartney did confirm jockey James Winks would continue his association with the enigmatic Trusting in the race.

Winks linked with Trusting for the second time when the stallion ran fifth in the Emirates Stakes at Flemington on November.

The Victorian jockey was in the saddle again as Trusting finished three lengths behind his stablemate in the Railway.

While Gathering is now $7 second favourite behind Famous Roman ($6) in the Kingston Town, Hartney says the conditions of the race give Trusting a genuine chance to turn the tables.

"The fact that it is weight-for-age over 1800 metres suits Trusting more than Gathering," she said.

Trusting is a $10 pick in revised Kingston Town Classic markets.

Fellow eastern states galloper Sniper's Bullet, the 2009 Kingston Town winner, remains solid at $9 despite his 13th placing in the Railway.

However, despite being chief victims of a slowly run Railway, the Rosehill-trained duo Triple Honour ($18) and Black Piranha ($21) have fallen from favour after their unplaced runs.

Patinack will be represented by Hour Of Peril in the Aquanita Stakes at Ascot on Saturday with Damien Oliver taking the ride.

Hour Of Peril was trapped wide without cover in the WA Guineas before finishing 10th when ridden by William Pike.

Winks, meanwhile, will team up with Patinack's head trainer John Thompson for two rides at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

He will ride Thegreatandthegood and Accounting for the stable and also takes the mount on Shadow Card for Hawkesbury trainer Garry White.
