The final contingent of overseas horses for this year's spring carnival has arrived safely in Melbourne.

The flight from England was delayed several hours but all five horses travelled well according to their handlers.

The five include Changingoftheguard and Warringah who have been sold to local interests and will remain in Australia.

The others are stablemates Mourilyan and Bankable, trained by Herman Brown, and Munsef from the Ian Williams stable.

Mourilyan, Munsef and Warringah are set to run in the Melbourne Cup while Bankable's target is the weight-for-age Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on October 31.

It has not yet been decided if Changingoftheguard, who is to be trained by David Hayes, will have a start in a support race during the Melbourne Cup carnival before being sent to the paddock for a spell.

Warringah, trained in England by Sir Michael Stoute, will join Chris Waller's Sydney stable after the Melbourne Cup.

Mourilyan and Bankable travelled in the care of Hayley Moore, sister of leading English jockey Ryan Moore.

Dawn Oxley, who has been the constant handler of Munsef since he joined Williams stable in May, will look after the gelding in Melbourne with Williams not arriving until about five days before the Melbourne Cup.

Waller is due to inspect Warringah on Sunday morning.
