Lee Freedman says he couldn't have Estee any better as she attempts to give the Hall Of Fame trainer a record fifth win in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville.

Freedman last won the 2000m race nine years ago with Grand Echezeaux but his drought in the Group One feature could break on Saturday with Estee's timely return to winning form.

This campaign the Redoute's Choice filly has lived in the shadow of her stablemate Romneya, finishing fifth to her in the Group Three The Vanity (1400m) and sixth in the Group Two Fillies Classic (1600m) but with a gear change last start she won the Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m).

"I am rapt with her," Freedman said.

"I think winning last start did her the world of good."

Freedman said racing in a visor worked for the filly in Adelaide.

"She raced differently with the visor on. She sprinted quickly when she went and found the line well," Freedman said.

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Estee beat Hawks Bay by a half-length and Freedman said stable rider Dwayne Dunn had noted the change in the filly.

"Dwayne rode her work for the first time in a couple of weeks on Tuesday and he said she feels fantastic," Freedman said.

The Australasian Oaks has special significance for Freedman as it provided his first Group One success in 1986 with Miss Clipper.

He also won with Mannerism (1991), Gatherneaux (1992) as well as Grand Echezeaux (2000). Bart Cummings has also trained four winners of the race.

Freedman said that while Estee was thriving, the Mick Price-trained Gallica was still the horse to beat.

Gallica won the Group Two Kewney Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last start which has become the form race for the Australasian Oaks with both Zarita (2008) and Anamato (2007) landing the double.

Gallica would be third favourite in a row to win the Oaks and the eighth in 12 years.

TAB Sportsbet quoted Gallica at $2.50 ahead of Lamarr ($3.60) and Estee ($6.50).

Meanwhile, the Kris Lees-trained Fritz's Princess will arrive in Adelaide on Friday for Saturday's Group One Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m).

Lees said the Newcastle-based mare had been in Melbourne for the last two weeks being finetuned for a first-up tilt at the fillies and mares feature and would leave on Thursday night.

"She'll run well and is a lovely fresh horse," Lees said.

"We gave her a couple of trials last month and she is pretty forward and ready for the races."

Last spring Fritz's Princess came off two barrier trials to score first-up over Hot Danish in the Group Two The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick.

Noted for her strong finishing bursts, Fritz's Princess has drawn barrier 13.

"The wide gate is of no concern as she goes back anyway, and provided she gets some cover there'll be no dramas," Lee said.

Fritz's Princess is on the fourth line of betting at $8.50 while Absolut Glam is the $4.80 favourite.
