Trainer Mick Price says his decision to dodge sprint sensation Hay List has made speedy mare Dubleanny vulnerable first-up in Saturday's Group Two Caulfield Sprint.

The winner of five of her seven starts, the four-year-old mare is TAB Sportsbet's $4.20 equal favourite with Set For Fame while three-year-old Soul is threatening at $4.40 in the 1100m feature.

Price said he had planned to run Dubleanny in next week's Group Two Schweppes Stakes but to avoid a clash with Hay List he brought forward her kick-off.

"I have been caught a little bit short on timing," Price said.

"I could have run her at Moonee Valley next week but I thought if Hay List is going around I don't really need to run there."

Price said the option of waiting and running her first-up down the straight in Melbourne Cup week also didn't appeal.

He said Saturday's performance would determine Dubleanny's next target which would be either the Group Two Salinger Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Derby Day or a second-up clash with Hay List in the Group One Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) on Emirates Stakes day at Flemington.

"She's been in work 10 weeks but she's only had one trial and I didn't want to run first-up down the straight," Price said.

"I am not saying she can't win at Caulfield but she's probably two weeks short of where I would normally have her so she is a little bit vulnerable fitness-wise, especially on a heavy track.

"She is in good order and I'm happy with her but the last 100 metres she might just feel the pinch a bit."

Dubleanny is proven on all ground and won her only start on a heavy track at the end of her winter campaign when she narrowly beat Broken in the Listed Creswick Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.

Craig Newitt has always rated the daughter of Dubleo as top class and will ride her again on Saturday.
