A top-two finish for Black Opal winner Decision Time in Saturday's Todman Slipper Trial will be enough to convince connections to pay the Golden Slipper late entry fee.

Trainer Clarry Conners said the gelding's owners hadn't made a definite decision to pay the $150,000 late entry for the $3.5 million event but said they would pay up if he runs in the first two.

"If he runs first or second he'll have earned enough money to pay for himself," Conners said.

"So if he runs first or second he'll run in the Slipper."

Craig Williams has been booked to ride the unbeaten youngster in the Todman but Conners said the Slipper rider had yet to be decided should Decision Time get there.

Decision Time took his record to four wins from as many starts with victory in the $250,000 Black Opal Stakes (1200m) in Canberra last Sunday week.

"I couldn't be happier, he just keeps going forward," Conners said.

"Since his Canberra run he's done extremely well and I'm looking forward to Saturday."

Despite scoring a strong win at Canberra after getting into an awkward position on the fence coming into the straight, Conners believes Decision Time's best performance was his victory two starts back at Rosehill.

On that occasion he defeated Black Opal placegetter Butt I'm Ready by 1-3/4 lengths.

"Each time he has won I've found an excuse why he won," the trainer said.

"I think his best win was when he won two starts ago. I didn't think Canberra was such a hard field even though he was in the worst part of the track.

"It was a gutsy win, and because of where he was on the track I think that made it quite impressive."

Conners had originally planned to start stablemate Georgette Silk in the Reisling Slipper Trial at Rosehill on Saturday but then decided against nominating the filly who is now likely to run in Saturday week's Magic Night Stakes.

"She got galloped on at Warwick Farm (in the Kindergarten Stakes) and I have just been a bit easy on her, and she's done too well," he said.

"She's just too gross, she's a terrific doer, so I'm going to trial her at Warwick Farm on Friday and run her the week after (in the Magic Night)."

Conners believes the two-year-olds are a pretty even bunch heading towards the Golden Slipper and thinks the fillies look to have the edge on the colts at this stage.
