PIERRO is set to open a slight favourite ahead of All Too Hard when the two star colts collide in Saturday's Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill, reports the Melb Herald-Sun.

It says: While there are doubt as to whether Pierro will contest the $1 million Golden Rose a fortnight later, Gai Waterhouse's unbeaten colt is certain to kick off his spring campaign in the Group 3 race against the cream of Sydney's three-year-olds.

All Too Hard was a resounding favourite over Pierro when they last met in the Sires Produce Stakes during the autumn and despite having a run under his belt, this time Black Caviar's little brother will be the outsider.

"All things being equal with the weather and barriers, Pierro will be a slight favourite over All Too Hard with us," TAB's Glenn Munsie said.

"All Too Hard should have the fitness edge on his side given he will be second up but it is hard to fault Pierro. Every time he has gone to the races he has stepped up to the mark and everyone involved in the colt will want to make sure he remains unbeaten."

The glamour pair are set to be joined by Epaulette, who finished a short half-head behind Pierro in the Todman Stakes, Ashokan, who will be ridden by Glyn Schofield, and Your Song, with Peter Robl in the saddle.
