There will be no down time for Chris Waller to reflect on season 2009-10 with the trainer gearing up for a big spring starting with the return of Danleigh in the Missile Stakes at Randwick.

Waller trained four winners at Rosehill on Saturday to take his tally to 94 Sydney metropolitan wins for the season, just four short of Peter Snowden and 21 more than seven time champion Gai Waterhouse.

The 36-year-old Waller also notched five Group One wins, two courtesy of stable stalwart Danleigh.

Clearing weather early in the week in Sydney will help Danleigh's claims for a first-up victory in the Group Three Missile (1200m) on Saturday as he heads towards his Group One spring target of the George Main Stakes on September 25.

"A heavy track is no good for him so hopefully there is an upgrade by next Saturday," Waller said.

"He's had two trials and I'm happy with where he is at right now."

Danleigh has had three starts for one placing on heavy going but his slow track record is exceptional with his six starts yielding five wins, three at Group One level.

His first came in the 2009 All-Aged Stakes and the other two in the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley last September and the George Ryder Stakes in the autumn.

The George Ryder Stakes (1500m) was Danleigh's first win past 1400 metres and his subsequent fifth in the Doncaster convinced Waller to aim him up at the 1600 metres of the George Main.

He has all but ruled out the Manikato again, preferring to keep the gelding close to home.

"He is a seven-year-old now and we are mindful that we need to look after him," Waller said.

Doomben Cup winner Metal Bender is scheduled to run in a barrier trial on Tuesday ahead of his first-up run in the Warwick Stakes on August 21 where he will be joined by stablemates Danleigh and Triple Honour, winner of the 2008 Doncaster.

Group Three winner Stryker will run in the same barrier trial as Metal Bender.

"Metal Bender looks fantastic and we are looking at the big races in Melbourne over the spring," Waller said.
