Tim Clark is preparing to again have a wave of support behind him when Sydney's favourite mare Hot Danish returns to the track in Saturday's Group Two Expressway Stakes.

Trainer Les Bridge elected to work Hot Danish early on Tuesday morning at Randwick instead of going around in a Rosehill barrier trial, and Clark says the seven-year-old is on target to keep her near faultless fresh record intact.

"Les was really impressed with her work this morning and he's pretty confident she'll be hard to beat on her work and the way she's going," Clark said.

"She trialled well last week and she's going really well."

Hot Danish will be among a host of top sprinters resuming in the 1200m weight-for-age feature at Rosehill but the race will be without hulking sprinter Hay List who won't resume until the Group One Lightning Stakes on February 19.

In a racing career which has so far spanned five seasons, Hot Danish has endeared herself to the public with her will to win which has so far netted 16 victories and seven placings from 29 starts.

"It's a great buzz when you ride her with all the crowd cheering for her," Clark said.

"It really is a great feeling when you are riding such a popular horse.

"I'm not exactly sure what Les has got planned for her after Saturday, but she always comes up and wins some good races for us and hopefully this preparation is no different to last.

"She's going really well, everyone is happy with her and I'm looking forward to getting back on her on Saturday."

The dual Group One winner is set to get dry track conditions to suit on Saturday with hot weather forecast all week in Sydney.

Hot Danish has won seven of her eight first-up attempts with Rosehill weight-for-age races being the successful kick-off point to her previous two preparations.

Last September the daughter of Nothin' Leica Dane made a one-act affair of the Group Two Premiere Stakes (1200m) as $1.35 favourite.

She is likely to face a much sterner test this time around with the Expressway featuring multiple Group One winner Danleigh as well as talented sprinters Love Conquers All, Winter King, Centennial Park and Border Rebel.

Clark believes Hot Danish is still showing plenty of zest for racing, evidenced by her two-length barrier trial win over 800m at Warwick Farm last Monday week.

And with 14 wins on the mare, the jockey has faith in her to add to the highlight reel on Saturday.

"I go to the races pretty confident most days, that's part of it because you've got to be confident, but riding her you have that little bit of extra confidence knowing that she'll always perform so well," he said.
