Trainer Stuart Webb would be happy if his filly Yosei comes even second or third to top mares Typhoon Tracy and Hot Danish in Saturday's Group One Myer Classic.
The Caulfield trainer believes Thousand Guineas winner Yosei will be very competitive against the two glamour mares in their much-anticipated clash at Flemington.
"Typhoon Tracy, Hot Danish, they're obviously the two premium mares in the country," Webb said on Thursday.
"I think even to run third or second will be a great feat for my filly.
"But with 49 kilos I think she will be very competitive."
Glen Boss will ride Yosei in the Myer Classic but Michelle Payne will be back on board for Thursday's VRC Oaks after their successful pairing in the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.
"Michelle has got the ride in the Oaks," Webb said.
"The only reason she's not on on Saturday in the Myer Classic is it's below her weight range by two or three kilos."
Webb opted for a run in the 1600-metre Myer Classic as her lead-up to the 2500-metre VRC Oaks instead of the 2000-metre Group Two Wakeful Stakes.
"She's very naturally fit and I just think this will suit her," he said.
"Because of her previous good efforts she would have carried more weight than all the other fillies in the Wakeful.
"She's got a good weight relief in a very good, prestigious race in the Myer Classic."
An assistant to trainer Robert Smerdon, Webb is a farrier by trade and Yosei is among only a handful of horses he trains.
Typhoon Tracy, the reigning Horse of the Year, heads the 12-horse field for Saturday's Myer Classic.
There is a chance her clash with Hot Danish may not eventuate if there is as much rain as forecast with the Sydney mare not at her best on heavy tracks.
