Triple Honour has not won a race for more than 18 months and has been blackballed by many punters as a result.

But in somewhat of a surprise, top jockey Hugh Bowman has revealed the gelding as his first choice ride in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

Bowman partnered Triple Honour to a recent barrier trial win and said his outstanding first-up record of four wins from six starts enticed him to accept the ride.

"He gave me a good feel in the trial and his first-up form is as good as any horse's," Bowman said.

"I had a few choices of rides in the race and I've chosen him for that reason.

"His best form, to me, is at his first couple of runs and it is a good starting point for him on Saturday."

Triple Honour looked set to become one of racing's stars when he won the Doncaster as a three-year-old in 2008.

He returned to take out the Premiere Stakes the following spring but despite running some handy races since he has failed to record another win.

Triple Honour will be one of two feature race rides Bowman has for trainer Chris Waller at Warwick Farm along with Danleigh in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes.

The winner of the Group One Manikato Stakes in the spring, Danleigh will be on trial at 1600 metres after downing stablemate Rangirangdoo in the Apollo Stakes (1400m) last start.

"I've only ridden the horse once and it was in a very fast-run 1400," Bowman said.

"His best form is over 1400 but it's not a hard mile on Saturday and the horse is in great form.

"Rangirangdoo ran very well last start and he's probably the horse to beat again.

Bowman has a strong book of mounts at the Chipping Norton Stakes meeting headed by boom filly Solar Charged in the Group Three Kindergarten Stakes (1100m).

He will also ride Patronyme in the Listed Wiggle Quality (1400m) and Run For Naara, who takes on brilliant filly More Joyous in the Group Two Surround Stakes (1400m).

"I don't know if she can beat More Joyous over this journey but once she gets to 2000 metres, I think she's going to be a Group One horse," Bowman said.

"She gave me that feel in Melbourne in the spring before she went amiss before the Oaks."
