Trainer Liam Birchley has warned top filly Snipzu could be vulnerable for her return in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes at Eagle Farm.

Snipzu is the early $2 favourite with TAB Sportsbet for Saturday's 1000-metre feature and is equal second favourite at $5 with the Gai Waterhouse-trained Driefontein for next month's $2 million Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast.

Snipzu hasn't raced for nearly two months since cruising to an easy victory at Eagle Farm on October 22 which followed her seven-length romp a week earlier on the same track.

Sizzling, the $3.30 favourite for the Magic Millions Classic, is also returning from a short break in Saturday's Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1000m).

The son of Snitzel earned Magic Millions favouritism following his six-length win on debut at Eagle Farm in mid-November.

Birchley is bitterly disappointed with Snipzu's barrier 15 for the Calaway Gal Stakes but has left room for improvement from the filly before her next assignment in the Group Three BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on December 31.

"The alley definitely is not ideal," Birchley said.

"It makes it that much tougher and she's got three kilos more under the set weights and penalties.

"She's only about 85 per cent right and she's probably vulnerable on Saturday with her weight and bad barrier."

Snipzu was beaten by the John Thompson-trained Sookie in an 810-metre barrier trial at Doomben on December 6.

Birchley remains unfazed by the barrier trial defeat and is confident Snipzu will be at her peak for the Magic Millions Classic.

"She was fairly fat the day she trialled. Alan Russell rode her in trial so she carried a lot of extra weight as well," Birchley said.

"She also wore heavy shoes and I believe Sookie was plated so I'm not too concerned."

Birchley is looking for his first Magic Millions Classic victory with Snipzu, who has the two wins as well as a second in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick in October to her credit.

After years of trying to win the Gold Coast feature, Birchley isn't getting too carried away just yet.

His best effort in the Magic Millions was with Paprika who was runner-up to Phelan Ready in 2009.

"I'm not sure yet if we've even seen the Magic Millions winner race," he said.

"It's far too early and a lot of things can happen in the next few weeks.

"We'll know more in a couple of weeks who is best placed to win it."
