David Hayes-trained Be That As it May is blazing a winning trail that is giving her sire Halo Homewrecker posthumous recognition.

Halo Homewrecker, who died while standing at Swettenham Stud in 2005, produced just 39 live foals in his only season at stud and Be That As It May was the first of his progeny to race.

At Caulfield on Saturday she posted her second win in four starts when she defied a betting drift from $4.40 to $6.00 to land the Blue Diamond Second Acceptances Handicap (1000m).

She also won her race debut at Cheltenham on November 9 before being placed at Cheltenham on November 22 and last start at Flemington when third to stablemate Quick Blush and Baby Corn.

Assistant trainer Gary Fennessy said he had expected Be That As It May to falter at this stage of her campaign but she has impressed him with her constant improvement.

"It was a good effort coming off the speed like that to win," Fennessy said.

"I thought she would have led but it is always better with two-year-olds if they can sit off the pace a bit as it give them more scope for better races.

"She has improved since her run at Flemington and being strong and tough I think she will get further."

Fennessy said stablemate Quick Blush, who is undefeated after two runs, had been earmarked for the Blue Diamond Stakes and while it might be too early to declare Be That As It May for Victoria's premier juvenile event, she was heading in the right direction.

"It is hard to say whether she is up to a Blue Diamond but sometimes they make general improvement and end up being your best chance," Fennessy said.

Jockey Craig Williams said Be That As It May travelled well on Saturday and always had Baby Corn covered.

When he asked her to sprint she flashed past Baby Corn to win by 2-3/4 lengths with Trust Me I'm Blonde another 3-3/4 lengths away third.

Halo Homewrecker, by Southern Halo, retired with three wins from 15 starts and earnings of $177,961.

He won the Group Three Bay Shore Stakes and placed in the Group Two Riva Ridge Breeders' Cup Stakes and W. Meredith Bailes Memorial Stakes.
