A rousing gallop at Moonee Valley during the week has buoyed trainer Pat Carey's confidence about Arapaho Miss snapping a frustrating losing streak in the Group Two Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Arapaho Miss has struggled for form since her 2007 VRC Oaks win after having a bone chip in her near-fore knee removed last autumn but Carey believes he has her close to her top again for Saturday's race.

He said the Danehill Dancer mare had only four runs in the spring to keep her ticking over and that she closed out her campaign with a glimpse of her best form with an eye-catching seventh in the Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on November 8.

Carey gave her an autumn pipe-opener over 1300 metres at Sandown on January 24 and while the race was too short she ran on strongly to finish ninth, four lengths from the winner.

Carey said her Moonee Valley gallop on Tuesday confirmed she was ready to run a big race in the Sunline.

"She worked the best she has worked for a while and her race day jockey, Steven King, rode her and gave us good feedback," Carey said.

"The signs are good that she is ready to return to her best form and that (the knee surgery) is well and truly behind her."

With a 100 rating, Arapaho Miss is clearly the top-seeded runner in the Sunline, ahead of Youthful High (95) and Princess Marizza (92).

She carried 61.5kg first-up at Sandown but under the weight-for-age scale will meet the other mares at level weights on Saturday.

"She had a heavy handicap weight first-up so it is nice to see her come in to a weight-for-age race with a significant weight drop," Carey said.

"I am really happy with her and I'm sure she will be hard to beat."
