Chris Waller is reluctant to talk about a premiership win just yet but takes a healthy lead into Sunday's Warwick Farm meeting where several members of his winter team will be on show.

Since the 1993-94 season, the Sydney trainers' premiership has been shared by Gai Waterhouse and Crown Lodge but with 10 weeks remaining this term Waller is in the box seat.

Under the Woodlands banner, Crown Lodge claimed nine premierships with John Hawkes at the helm and won a close race for new owner, Sheikh Mohammed's Darley, last season with Peter Snowden in charge.

Waller came second and it proved to the young trainer it was possible to break the domination of the big two stables.

He has four runners in the Marsden's Law Group Handicap (1600m) including Anything who is backing up from an unlucky run at Canterbury a week ago.

Josh Parr lost his irons and had a torrid time remaining upright in the saddle as the favourite dawdled in last of 11 runners.

"Anything had no luck the other day and I think is the best of my horses at Warwick Farm," Waller said.

"Most of them are winter horses coming back and it's a good time for them.

"We have a strong winter team and we are in a good position but I'm not going to talk of the premiership just yet."

Tim Clark will ride Anything who is an $8 chance in early betting with Gopana from the Hawkes team the $4.60 early favourite with TAB Sportsbet.

Patrician's Glory, scratched from Scone on Saturday, is topweight for the Berant Builders Handicap (2200m) and is one of the large contingent of stayers bought from Europe to bolster the Waller stable ranks.

Waller began a trend for Australian trainers when he targeted the end of year Tattersalls sale for tried horses in England to buy stayers.

Of the 25 to have raced for his stable, 24 have won including Patrician's Glory who claimed two victories last winter.

A Group Three placegetter in England, Patrician's Glory is coming off a fifth to Tullamore on a heavy track last Saturday week at Hawkesbury.

The addition of the Europeans has given Waller the fire power to dominate Sydney's winter races at 2000 metres and beyond for the past two seasons.
