Dual Group One winner Melito has arrived back at Gerald Ryan's Rosehill stable to begin preparations for the Sydney autumn and possibly the European summer.

Melito was crowned NSW champion for 2009-10 for her stellar season which included five Group One placings in addition to her wins in the TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and Winter Stakes (1400m).

She had just two starts in the spring finishing fifth on both occasions behind star sprinter Black Caviar.

"She came back today (Monday) and she looks terrific, she's bigger and stronger," Ryan said.

"The plan is to aim her preparation at the Coolmore Classic, the Queen of the Turf and all going well, the Doncaster.

"The options are all there as is Europe after that."

Ryan said he was not tempted by the sprint races at Royal Ascot which have been a happy hunting ground for Australians over the past few years.

"I would like to take her to Europe in June or July when there are some nice Group One mares races in England and France," he said.

"I think she would be suited to those.

"But we'll wait and see how she comes through her campaign."

Ryan said Melito wasn't at her best in the spring.

"Maybe she is a better autumn and winter horse or maybe the hard campaign took its toll in a way we couldn't see."

After claiming her maiden Group One victory in the TJ Smith at Randwick on April 10, Melito ran second to Hot Danish in the All Aged Stakes two weeks later.

On May 15 she began a four-start Brisbane campaign with second in the BTC Cup, third in the Doomben 10,000 and second in the Stradbroke Handicap before her all-the-way victory in the Winter Stakes.

She is scheduled to resume in the Breeders Classic at Randwick on February 12.

Ryan also has much to look forward to with two-year-old Godspeed who will have his first public outing in a barrier trial at Rosehill next week.

The Redoute's Choice colt out of Regrowth was the $1.87 million sale topper at this year's Easter sale.

"He is a lovely colt and I'm looking forward to his trial," Ryan said.
