MELBOURNE Cup-winning trainer Alain de Royer Dupre is on Racing Victoria’s international consultant Leigh Jordon’s “must see” list when he heads to France on Tuesday.

Jordon, on his annual trip to Europe, said he’s keen to sound out Dupre’s interest in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup with Verema, winner of the Prix Maurice de Nieuil (2800 m) at Longchamp earlier today.

It was the same race won last year by Tac de Boistron, who was subsequently purchased by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock.

“It would be good to try to get Alain to come down again,” Jordon said.

“I’ll speak with Alain and see what he’s thinking about Melbourne.”

Ridden by Christophe Lemaire, Verema posted her third win from 11 starts when she won the five-horse race by three-quarters of a length.

Verema, a four-year-old daughter of Baratha, is owned by the Aga Khan and last year won the Group 3 Prix de Letuce (3000m) at Longchamp.

The mare finished third behind Cavalryman in the Dubai Gold Cup (3200m) on Dubai World Cup night in March. (Racing Network)
