LADY Lakshmi, winner of today’s Ken Cox Handicap at Flemington, could find herself back at the track on Crown Oaks day.

Co-trainer David Feek said the filly, now a winner of her past three city starts, had the credentials to be an Oaks contender.

Feek noted that Dashing Granada ran fourth behind Lovelorn in the 1999 Oaks after running fifth in the Wakeful Stakes.

He said Lady Lakshmi would first return to Flemington on July 6 for the $120,000 Taj Rossi Series Final (1400 m).

Lady Lakshmi, the $3 favourite, was untroubled to win by one length from Resistant, $21, with a short head to Razzle Dazzle Rock, $14, third.

“If she continues to raise the bar the Oaks would be the ultimate goal,” Feek said.

Feek said the filly’s latest success was full of merit given she had to work from a wide draw, but was able to have a strong kick late.

“She has progressed nicely and her demeanor tells me she is a classy horse,” Feek said.

He said after the Taj Rossi Final, Lady Lakshmi would not be turned out in the paddock as  there was no time for a break.

“She doesn’t need to go out for a tradition three or four week break. We have a nice little half mile track and we will let the girls ride her every second day,” Feek said.
