PPD Club chief tipster Brian Blackwell hit top form with his Daily Specials on Saturday.

BB gave only 3 bets for the day - his headlined special was GRAND SLAM EAGLE 1st $5.10/$2.00 at Flemington. His sole tip for Rosehill was SACRED FLYER 1st $3.70/$1.80. His only other selection was HENWOOD 2nd $4.60/$1.70 at Flemington. Here's exactly what BB told our members about Grand Slam Eagle:

If Luike Nolen hadn’t misjudged the ride, (7) Grand Slam Eagle 11/2 might well have won at Caulfield last start; instead, the 3YO had to settle for 3rd with a searching finale that was 2 lens short of victory. On Saturday, he gets his chance to score in race 3, a 3YO RB78 hdcp 1700m at Flemington. The Peter Moody trained Beniciio gelding has raced only 3 times for a win and two 3rds. He scored a 5.5 lens Mdn win at Seymour 1309m on June 15 and then was sent out at 9/2 in an RB72 for 3YOs at Caul 1400m on July 3. He was absolutely ‘lost’ in the early and middle stages – so far back he was even out of camera view! Nolen admitted to the puzzled stewards that he’d got further back than he intended (!). Grand Slam Eagle, to his credit, picked up the 20+ lens and came home soundly to finish 3rd/14 (2 lens). Lifted in distance today, he looks nicely suited. Interestingly, there’s a change of rider to Linda Meech.
