 After a nice run off a 2 months break, (9) Blackie 7/1 appeals as a solid eachway chance for race 3, an Open hdcp 1500m at Moonee Valley on Friday night. The Nz-bred 6YO came from last at the 200m to close well down the outside to finish 8^th/18 to Speediness in the Grp 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality at Flemington 1200m on Sep 7 (2.3 lens). That was his first start since his 6^th/12 there over 1600m (Listed) on July 6, btn 7.4 lens. Three starts back, he was 1^st/12 over the Moonee Valley 1600m, downing Spacecraft (and conceding him 1.5kgs). Blackie’s won twice 2^nd-up, he’s a winner and placer at the Valley, he’s drawn well, he’s won both his starts at the distance, and he’s got a good jockey aboard (Chris Symons). The formline via the Bobbie Lewis looks potent and this brings in (7) Sertorius 7/2 as the key danger runner. He finished 6^th/18 in the BL, a half length ahead of Blackie, and he was running home well, so today’s extra 300m is right in his favour.
