Oh, oh, now they're picking on Bart...Racing NSW boss Peter V'landys reckons he's going to speak with Chief Steward Ray Murrihy in regard to the comments by Bart Cummings about the simmering whip rule penalties crisis. And he's not ruling out action against the legendary trainer. V'Landys says: ''I will certainly be looking at his comments and there is no greater supporter of Bart than me...However, I believe he has gone a little too far on this occasion and I'll be speaking with Ray to see where we take it. I want to stress these issues should not be made personal.'

What was the terrible thing Bart said? This is it: 'The steward makes the rules to make himself more powerful...Stewards and umpires should be seen and not heard. Murrihy is very unpopular.' Of course, the question is why it needs the head of Racing NSW to complain to the Chief Steward? Surely Murrihy reads newspapers?

V'Landys believes other States are leaving NSW 'hanging' over whip fines. He says: 'After pushing so hard for whip reform the other states now totally ignore the enforcement of the rules. Our stewards are implementing what the ARB, along with the jockeys, agreed to do. Our stewards are making sure the rules of racing are adhered to, it is time the other states did the same.'
