Peter Moody’s achievement with Mid Summer Music last year has played a part in his decision to run My Quest for Peace

Peter Moody’s achievement with Mid Summer Music last year has played a part in his decision to run My Quest for Peace in next Saturday’s $1.36 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m), reports Racing Victoria.

The champion trainer has opted to give the import, who had his first start since last year’s Emirates Melbourne Cup in the Doomben 10,000 on 25 May, an additional run in Queensland’s biggest race.

My Quest for Peace finished seventh behind Epaulette in the 10,000, two spots higher than Mid Summer Music finished last year before rebounding to win the Stradbroke, and the way he has done since has prompted Moody to extend his campaign.

“Initially I was going to the paddock, but he’s done that well and he’s cleaned up beautifully in the coat,” Moody said on Sky Racing.

“I won the race in identical circumstances last year with Mid Summer Music. She was midfield in the 10,000, but bounced back.

“Look, he’s a Spring Cups horse, but he has that quality, so he’ll have a crack.”

My Quest for Peace is in his first campaign for Moody, having campaign under Luca Cumani last Spring, will race without the blinkers Moody applied for the 10,000.

“Strangely for a horse coming off a Melbourne Cup, I thought he was the only horse in the race that pulled with the blinkers on,” Moody said.

“I erred in putting the blinkers on him and they went that hard. So (it will be) blinkers off, shadow roll on.”

My Quest for Peace is a $51 chance in the Stradbroke with the TAB, which has yesterday’s Queensland Guineas winner Sizzling the $4.50 favourite.

He is one of three likely Stradbroke runners for Victoria, who also has the John Sadler-trained Linton ($35) and Stuart Webb’s three-time Group 1 winner Yosei ($41) targeting the event.
