AFTER rueing a Group 1 that escaped in Adelaide, Peter Moody will redouble his stocks

AFTER rueing a Group 1 that escaped in Adelaide, Peter Moody will redouble his stocks to take aim at Saturday’s Doomben Cup, reports Racing Network News.

Moody will saddle up Lights Of Heaven and Manighar in the Doomben Cup, a race the eluded the champion trainer last year albeit not for the want of trying.

Damien Oliver, who rode Lights Of Heaven protested unsuccessfully against Mawingo in last year’s Doomben Cup after failing by a short neck.

Moody said Lights Of Heaven is at the top of her game following her win in the Hollindale Cup and he also expects Manighar to improve on his latest run in the Queen Elizabeth.

He’s hoping for better fortune than he received when hot favourite Moment Of Change missed the start in yesterday’s Goodwood.

“Luke (Nolen) called for a man and they let them go,” Moody said.

“He’s never missed the kick in his life and the thing next to him played up. Just another Group 1 gone begging.

“He just never got the chance to build momentum, you are not going to sprint off the mark with that weight.”

Moody said he would now send Moment Of Change, runner-up in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes and Newmarket Handicap, for a spell after his fifth behind Platelet in the Goodwood.

He noted that Moment Of Change is not as effective the clockwise way of racing so there was little point pursuing a run in either the Doomben 10,000 or Stradbroke Handicap.
