Hong Kong-based James Winks is on the lookout for rides at the Caulfield meeting on August 15. He's keen to get a few rides under his belt in prep for the new HK season which kicks off on Sep 13. Winks says he's a more confident jockey after his first stint in Hong Kong and he can't wait for the new season. He used Monday's Cranbourne trials to begin his preparation to compete once again against some of the finest riders in the world. He says: 'Winning a Group 1 so early in my time over there was a great boost for me...I got noticed early and was able to pick up mounts all the way through the season.'

James Winks rode 10 winners during his 6 months in HK last season. He also notched 10 2nds and 14 3rds. His mounts earned almost $HK10 million. He was 22nd on the jockeys' list but didn't ride the full season. Brett Prebble finished 2nd on the ladder with 79 winners, Darren Beadman was 5th with 41 winners and Zac Purton ran 3rd with 43 winners.
