Sometimes he is criticised for being too patient, but he is very conscious of the speed of a race...'He is one of those jockeys who can make a difference, about whom you could say that the way he rode a horse won it the race. He did that last week at Flemington winning on my mare Danish Whiskey in the last, taking the run up the inside...'He won the AJC Oaks on Absolutely doing something similar after we walked the track and worked out a plan. He can win on an average animal. Not all jockeys can.

Chad Schofield's copped a rap over the knuckles...The star apprentice received a 10-meeting suspension on a careless riding charge at Caulfield. He pleaded guilty to causing interference in the Champagne Pommery Handicap, and chief stipe Terry Bailey told Chad he has a poor record. It's the youngster's fifth suspension since last Oct. He can resume riding on Wednesday, Feb 6.
