Promising filly Alberton Park earned a chance to boost her future stud value in next month's Listed Mode Plate with an impressive display at Doomben on Wednesday.

Alberton Park impressed jockey Stathi Katsidis when she broke through for her maiden victory with a three-quarter length win over Decryption in the Events@BRC Plate (1200m).

Trainer Liam Birchley is generally regarded as being conservative when he bids at yearling sales but the daughter of Thorn Park was such a striking individual he paid $NZ200,000 for her at the Karaka sales in New Zealand.

"She had a good pedigree and she was a good-looking type so you just can't avoid paying that sort of money," Birchley said.

Alberton Park was rated unlucky by Birchley not to win at her previous start when she finished sixth to Tracy's Choice in a 1020-metre maiden at Doomben on November 5.

"She was most unlucky that day and never got out in time and should have won," Birchley said.

"I think she's got a bit of a future and I plan to give her a chance at black type in the Mode Plate next start."

The $100,000 Listed Mode Plate (1200m) will be run at Doomben on December 5.

Birchley will consider adding blinkers to Alberton Park when she steps up sharply in class for the Mode Plate and sought Katsidis' advice whether the filly needed the head gear.

"I took the blinkers off her last start when she was beaten but the way she raced today gives me the impression she'll be better with them back on," he said.

"I trialled her with the blinkers off and she went okay so I didn't think she needed them today."

Trainer Bryan Guy forecast a bright future in Queensland for former Sydney galloper Stallone following the three-year-old's long neck win over Bagman in the www.brc.com.au Handicap (1350m).

Stallone started his career with trainer John O'Shea at Randwick after being bought by Sydney bloodstock agent Vin Cox for $160,000 at the Magic Millions yearling sales.

"He had a few mind problems when I first got him but I think we've managed to get around them," Guy said.

"He's improved out of sight since he's come to me and hopefully he can go on with it."

Winning jockey Brad Stewart was impressed with the victory and told Guy it would not be a surprise to see him go through his grades in Brisbane.

It was a bittersweet day for Stewart who was subsequently suspended for seven meetings after being found guilty of careless riding for allowing Stallone to shift out on to Miss Breanna at the 500 metres.

His suspension starts at midnight on Saturday and concludes on November 29.

Guy made it a double when Lucky Omens won the Xmas Parties@The Races Handicap (1350m) and racked up a treble when Truesdale scored a gutsy win in the Weddings@BRC Hcp (1660m).
