Melbourne Cup prospects are emerging one after the other in the UK...Overnight, the Ebor winner Willing Foe was named as a likely Cup challenger. He won the Ebor at York in a torrid finish, beating Royal Diamond by a neck. It was Frankie Dettori's first Ebor winner though he copped a suspension for careless riding. Winning trainer Saeed bin Suroor says: 'We thought a mile and six would suit him well. His last piece of work was really good and it gave us confidence. The options are open for him.

Southern Speed has been the big mover in spring Cups market overnight. In the Melbourne Cup her price has been wound in from $51 to $35 following her sensational win at Morphettville. Reigning champion sire Fastnet Rock may have lost two of his potential spring headliners in Atlantic Jewel and She's a Fox to injury, but he now has a likely replacement in Nechita, who made a one act affair of the Grp 3 ATC Silver Shadow Stakes at Warwick Farm on Saturday. The John Thompson trained filly scored a facile debut win back in June and was immediately spelled for the spring, a move that now looks like paying dividends tenfold, says Tara Madgwick at www.breednet.com.au.

Rusambo's win at Moonee Valley continued Vlad Duric's amazing run with Darley early in the 2012/13 season. Duric reckons the colt should be even better once he steps out in trip. He says: 'I was always going to ride him back because that's the way he goes about it this horse, he needs a cold ride and he's got a really powerful finish...This horse wants 1400 (metres) and he showed that today. He just took a little bit to pick up and get rolling but he was really strong on the line.'
