Betstar's Managing Director Alan Eskander was more than impressed with OVERREACH'S win in the Moet & Chandon Stakes at Rosehill, over four lengths ahead of VILLA VERDE. "What a performance! She was simply breathtaking and it is hard to see how she can possibly be beaten in the Golden Slipper," Eskander said.
"Before today we thought that VILLA VERDE would be her main opposition in the Slipper. Shaun Dwyer will have to come up with a miracle for her to make up that 4.3 length margin, in just two weeks." OVERREACH is now even money favourite for the Golden Slipper, with VILLA VERDE out to $10, CRITERION at $13.00 and FAST 'N' ROCKING ($15) rounding out the top end. "We expect more money to come for OVERREACH at that price, she is highly likely to start in the red," Eskander said. "The colts in the Todman Stakes ran 0.63 seconds slower than OVERREACH, so you wouldn't think that any that raced there could challenge Gai's star filly."

Eskander reckons Gai's PIERRO has the Doncaster at his mercy after a brilliant win in the Canterbury Stakes. PIERRO has now moved from $4.20 in to $3.00 and is expected to firm again, once Gai Waterhouse confirms him as a definite runner. Eskander told PPD: "Stablemate MORE JOYOUS aside, he made the rest of the field look second rate...After his first ride on the colt, Jim Cassidy rates PIERRO above the champion MIGHT AND POWER, which is an amazing wrap for the three year old."
