Leading trainer John Size has formed a powerful combination with Brett Prebble this season and he has turned to the Australian to put the record straight in the Lusitano Challenge Cup (1,400m) at Sha Tin today with Diego Kosta, reports the Racing Post in Hong Kong (www.racing.scmp.com)

There were question marks over Diego Kosta running a strong 1,400m when he went into his last racetrack appearance but he was able to put them to rest even in defeat when he was fifth to Mighty Maverick.

With Karis Teetan aboard, Diego Kosta got a great run through most of the race sitting in the box seat, but found himself strung up with nowhere to go when heads turned for home and the leaders fainted.

The race simply went ahead without Diego Kosta as he was bailed up behind the leaders while the runners which fought out the decision were sweeping unhindered down the centre of the track.

It was all over when Diego Kosta was clear but he did get going again to find the line into albeit a comfortably beaten fifth but without a huge amount of pressure. With clear running, no-one knows where he might have run but it would have been substantially closer, that much we can say.

Today Teetan goes to one of the other strong winning chances, Paul O'Sullivan-trainedGlenealy Prize, but punters won't be put off by Prebble going on to Diego Kosta.

There have been periods when Prebble didn't seem to be able to ride a winner in his occasional appearances for Size but rode a lot of seconds, particularly in the two seasons prior to this one. That has all turned around this term though, with Prebble landing seven of his 20 mounts for the Australian handler, including three of his last six, and Diego Kosta gives him a great chance to improve on that in an open race.

His main danger, amongst several, looks to be Benno Yung Tin-pang-trained Diamond King (Howard Cheng Yue-tin) who looks as well suited to the likely tempo as Diego Kosta.

Both horses race on the speed and this promises to be a trot and canter style of a race which will play into their hands but disadvantage some of the other form horses.

Glenealy Prize certainly has a chance - a likely improver with blinkers coming off - while draw and race tempo will present problems for the likes of Simply Invincible, Radiant Bunny and Joyful Moments.
