TYPHOON Tracy may record a fifth group 1 victory in succession in tomorrow's Doncaster Handicap in Sydney, but she will still require a dominant winning performance to upgrade her international rating, reports Andrew Eddy in The Age.

His report says: Greg Carpenter, who is Victoria's chief handicapper as well as Australia's representative for the world thoroughbred ratings, said yesterday that Typhoon Tracy would probably need to win by three to four lengths to lift her rating to the level achieved by former great mare and dual Doncaster winner Sunline.

''She currently has a 118 rating but the Doncaster is probably her best chance of raising that rating, as there are only two horses above her in the weights, Theseo and Danleigh,'' Carpenter said. ''But for her to go to a similar level as Sunline achieved, she would have to turn in a dominant performance.''

Sunline achieved an international rating of 120 for her Hong Kong Mile win in 2000 and her Doncaster Handicap victory with 58 kilograms in 2002.

Typhoon Tracy, who is ranked the equal-sixth best mare in the world after recording 10 wins from 13 starts, has easily won all her three group 1 races this campaign but has not lifted her rating above that achieved at the end of 2009. Carpenter explained that her most recent win was only against mares in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes, while her previous victories in the Orr and Futurity stakes at Caulfield were at weight-for-age where she was given a two-kilogram allowance from the males.

Her trainer Peter Moody could achieve victories in the three most lucrative races in Australia tomorrow, as on the other side of the country, his two-year-old filly Miss Gai Flyer, will run as favourite in the $500,000 group 2 Karrakatta Plate at Ascot in Perth. He also saddles up Speedy Natalie in the $350,000 AJC Oaks at Randwick.
