No surprise, really, that it's been decided to retire Typhoon Tracy...She was hardly dominant in her Orr Stks win at Caulfield and the effort took a lot out of her. She probably would have struggled to maintain her form against the best gallopers in the land. She's done enough, anyway. Six Grp 1 wins is not bad at all. Trainer Peter Moody is probably giving his blessing to the retirement. He'll be disappointed, though, that his promising 2YO filly One Last Dance has had to be sent for a spell.Ge

Gerald Ryan is confident he has Melito and Dances on Waves ready for a winning autumn. Melito, who trialled well at Rosehill, is set to return to racing in the Grp 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) on Saturday. GR says: 'She trialled fantastic and pulled up well.' Brenton Avdulla is booked for the Apollo ride. Villiers Stakes winner Dances On Waves won a trial and Ryan reckons it was an '[enormous' performance. She resumes in the Millie Fox on Sat week.
