RACING Victoria stewards have suggested that Chad Schofield seek help as they hit him with his his eighth suspension this season.

RV chief steward Terry Bailey said he is only to happy to ask John Didham, who is in charge of the apprentice's program, to assist Schofield correct his riding style.

Bailey told Schofield, who was suspended for seven meetings at Moonee Valley on Friday night, that "something needs to be done about it".

"Your record is starting to bite," Bailey said.

Stewards suspended Schofield for 10 meetings for his winning ride on Auld Burns in the Saintly Handicap at Flemington

Schofield changed his plea from a reserved plea to that of guilty after speaking with Bruno Rouge Serret, stable foreman for David Hayes, who is his master.

And, to compound his latest misdemeanours, stewards ordered that the Moonee Valley and Flemington suspensions be served accumulatively.

Schofield is suspended until March 18.

He was one of four jockeys to be suspended, including Stephen Baster who incurred a 12 meeting suspension for his winning ride on Ferlax in the Australian Guineas.

Stewards charged Baster with careless riding about 150 metres after the start for causing a chain reaction of interference.

"I'm shocked. There was not much I could do," Baster said.

"I think it is ridiculously obvious that it's not my fault. My horse's head is turned out."

Baster said he would definitely appeal.

Luke Nolen pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge in the Bob Hoysted Handicap, which allows him to resume riding on Saturday where he rides Moment Of Chnage in the $1 million Newmarket Handicap.

Brad Rawiller received an eight meeting suspension, which will cost him the Australian Cup ride on Niconoise, but he arranged to get off all his rides on Monday and Tuesday to allow him to ride at the Adelaide Cup meeting. (racingnetwork.com.au)
