Cape Cross colt Sea the Stars has cut a swathe through the European racing season in 2009 and put the icing on the cake at Longchamp on Sunday in winning the Group One Arc de Triomphe in spectacular fashion, reports Breednet.com.au.

It says: The John Oxx trained Sea The Stars (pictured below courtesy Getty pictures UK Mirror) )jumped quickly for regular rider Mick Kinane and was keen to go in the early stages giving Kinane quite a job to get him settled, but it was not long before he was cruising midfield on the rail.

The two Ballydoyle pacemakers, Set Sail and Grand Ducal went straight to the front, opening up a ten-length lead on the rest of the field and when they began to fade as the field turned for home Stacelita made her move, shooting to the front with just over a furlong to go.

Dar Re Mi quickly joined her, while Cavalryman and Conduit made up ground on the far outside, but when Sea the Stars got clear running it was all over, the superstar colt exploding away from his rivals to win by two lengths from Youmzain, who finished second for the third consecutive year.

Godolphin's Cavalryman finished a head further back in third, multiple Group One winner Conduit another head back in fourth.

Owner Christopher Tsui remained calm on the outside but looked pretty emotional during the post-race press conference.

"He's just the best. It's unbelievable and a great feeling. I was a little worried at one point as I saw him coming back through the field. I didn't see everything too well but he suddenly dashed forward and then hit the front," Tsui said.
