MICHAEL Rodd has become the third top jockey to announce he will head overseas to represent Australia next month after accepting a place in a two-day international jockey challenge in Mauritius, reports The Age.

It says: Craig Williams will compete in the Super Jockey Challenge in Japan, which he won in 2007, while Nash Rawiller is looking forward to riding at Happy Valley after being invited to the Hong Kong International jockeys' challenge.

''They are always exciting things to ride in,'' Rodd said yesterday. ''It comes at a good time of the year and I'm looking forward to it. I have been to the races in Mauritius before but never ridden there. It's a tight track, so it will be a different experience. The great thing about these challenges is that you get riders coming from all around the world and you see a lot of different styles.''

By his own high standards, Rodd had a disappointing spring carnival, failing to win a group 1 race, but wants to finish with a flourish at Sandown on Saturday.
