THE chances of an eastern states victory in Saturday's group 1 $1 million Railway Stakes in Perth plummeted further yesterday with the three topweights - Black Piranha, Sniper's Bullet and Triple Honour - drawing poor barriers, reports The Age.

It states: The trio, who already have to establish a modern weight-carrying record to win the race, all came up with double-figure barriers, which forced local galloper Colour Correct into outright favourtism at $4.40.

No horse since 1968 has won the Railway with more than the 56.5 kilograms that Sniper's Bullet carried last year. Black Piranha (barrier 12) on 58.5 kilograms has half a kilogram more than both Sniper's Bullet (barrier 15) and Triple Honour (barrier 11).

Colour Correct, who drew ideally in gate seven, has missed a placing just three times in 19 starts and comes off easy stakes-race wins in his lead-up. His jockey Paul Harvey will be shooting for a fourth victory in WA's richest race. The other two eastern states horses, stablemates Trusting (barrier 5) and Gathering (6) both enjoyed luck at the draw.
