ANY fears that last season's leading Sydney jockey Nash Rawiller would have his spring carnival aspirations dented after a bout of pneumonia were quickly erased yesterday when he landed a winning double at Randwick, reports The Age.

It says: Rawiller had been sidelined for the past two weeks with pneumonia and it was feared the illness could thwart his hopes of success in the early part of this spring.

"I needed the hit-out, but have come through it good," Rawiller said yesterday. "I haven't done much since I last rode. I've been basically resting, but I feel pretty good and as any jockey would tell you, I'll be better for the run.

'I was thinking about waiting until Saturday to return but I'm glad I came today because I was able to have a good blowout.''

Rawiller stood himself down from the final half of the program at Rosehill on July 31 and spent the first two weeks of the new racing season in bed.
