VICTORIA'S leading trainer Peter Moody has been notified by Racing Victoria Limited stewards of a positive swab taken from stakes winning mare Returntosender at Caulfield in April, reports The Age.

It says: The swab relates to a post-race urine sample taken from Returntosender after her win in the W.J (Bill) Adams Plate on April 3, a race she won before taking out the group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes at Morphettville, and was shown to contain n-butyl hyoscine and dipyrone, which are both banned substances under the rules of Australian racing.

The substances are typically found in products used to treat horses suffering from colic or abdominal pain. Previous positive swab tests to dipyrone have resulted in fines of between $2000 and $4000 and disqualification of the horse from the race in question.

Moody is enjoying his best season and is poised to claim his first metropolitan trainers premiership with 62 wins, 24 wins clear of his nearest rival David Hayes.
