Local trainer Darren Weir will saddle-up a team of three gallopers to tackle the Listed Sportingbet Ballarat Cup (2200m) on Saturday, reports Racing Victoria.

Weir told RSN Radio his best chance was with seven-year-old Hurdy Gurdy Man but the entire would need to improve on his last-start eighth behind Mujadale in the Ararat Cup(2000m) on November 9.

“He’s sort of been aimed towards this race all preparation, he’s in the right order but I’d think he’d have to improve for this,” Weir said.

“He’s going to present in good order but he’ll need to improve a little bit.”

At First Sight, who finished second behind Mujadale in the Ararat Cup, will also have a tilt at the $200,000 race.

“He’s going well; I must say though I thought he had every possible chance at Ararat and if he only brings that form to Ballarat he won’t be good enough,” Weir said.

OTI-owned Mobaco will also line-up for Weir.

“On form it doesn’t look like we have a strong chance in the Ballarat Cup but you never know,” he said.

“The track is in absolute great order, I’m really looking forward to Saturday and the place looks fantastic.”
