Having her first start for new trainer Aidan O’Brien, triple Group I winning Australian mare Sea Siren returned to top form overnight to score an easy win in the Listed Belgrave Stakes at Fairyhouse in Ireland.

Partnered by Joseph O’Brien and sent out favourite for the six furlong sprint, the daughter of champion sire Fastnet Rock always travelled well and surged to the line to beat her six rivals by a length and a half.

"She´s a very exciting mare by an exciting stallion,” said Joseph O’Brien.

"She has loads of pace and a great attitude. She was just a bit idle when she got there and I had to give her one smack to get her to go about her business. She´s exciting for all of the big 5f and 6f sprints later in the year."

UK Racing Post offered the following assessment :For top Australian sprinter SEA SIREN this was a very good start and one can imagine that she´ll improve as her trainer gets to know her.

Held up by Joseph O´Brien in a race run at a good pace, she always travelled well and quickened well to mount her challenge, going away inside the last furlong. She doesn´t lack pace and has a real turn of foot, real weapons of course, and it will be interesting to see how she fares over 5f as one would imagine a race like the Nunthorpe will be on her radar.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore Australia for her breeder Keith Biggs, Sea Siren was purchased privately earlier this year by Coolmore.

Sea Siren has the impressive record of seven wins from 17 starts and is a half-sister to Group II winner Lady Dehere, Group III winner Oratorio and stakes-winner Discorsi being one of seven winners from outstanding producer Express a Smile, who died in 2011.

She has the honour of becoming the first European stakes-winner for Fastnet Rock, who has been shuttling to Ireland for the past few seasons and has two year-olds in Europe this year. (www.breednet.com.au)
